A 4-day creative summer experience for teens 14+ at Restoration Studio in Houston's Sawyer Yards. No art experience required. Just a willingness to explore.
Featured in Houston Moms Summer Camp GuideThe Forge is a creative, process-based studio experience designed for teens who want a space to explore who they are, express what they feel, and create without pressure.
Each four-day session blends guided artmaking with space for personal exploration — using painting, mixed media, collage, and expressive techniques in a welcoming, thoughtfully designed studio environment.
This is not about producing perfect work. It is about discovering what happens when a young person is given the freedom and the tools to make something that is entirely their own.
Participants are invited to explore a range of mediums throughout the session — trying new things, discovering what resonates, and building a creative vocabulary that is entirely their own.
Fluid, forgiving, and endlessly interesting. Watercolor and ink reward experimentation and produce results that are always uniquely yours.
Working with your hands in clay is grounding in a way that is hard to describe. Teens consistently return to clay as a favorite.
Textile-based work that brings texture, color, and process together. Meditative and endlessly varied.
Layering images, textures, and found materials into something new. Perfect for visual thinkers and storytellers.
Bold, expressive, and forgiving. Acrylics let teens paint over mistakes and discover what emerges from experimentation.
A range of methods focused on expression over skill — mark-making, abstraction, and personal visual language.

The Forge isn't only a summer experience. During the Fall and Spring semesters, Restoration Studio offers an after-school creative program for teens — a consistent, weekly space to create, connect, and be seen. Case workers and school counselors are encouraged to refer students who would benefit from a structured, creative, trauma-informed after-school environment.

The Forge After-School Program is designed to serve teens who could benefit from a structured, creative, trauma-informed environment during the after-school hours. If you are a case worker, school counselor, or community advocate working with a teen who fits this description, we welcome your referral. We work alongside referral partners to make sure every student who enters the program has what they need to feel safe, welcomed, and ready to create.
